On March 1, we joined forces with Lluidas Vale Rehabilitation & Development Foundation and a strong group of volunteers from our local community to load a 40′ container with donated school furniture for Jamaica.

The container was filled with desks, chairs, tables, chalk boards, shelves, easels, cabinets and basketball hoops among other things, all donated by the York Region District School Board. We were able to secure these items from E. J. Sand Public School in Thornhill, Ontario which is scheduled for demolition in March.

The container was manually packed at the school by 15 volunteers doing all the heavy lifting, carrying and stacking with minimum equipment. It was truly a team effort and we demonstrated that we really are stronger together!

The 40′ container is scheduled to arrive in Jamaica end of March where our team on the ground Food For The Poor Jamaica will make sure the furniture is distributed to schools in need across the country.
