Food For The Poor is rushing emergency relief to the Caribbean Islands devastated by Hurricane Irma. Together with FFP in the US, we are shipping emergency supplies to Haiti and the Leeward Islands. Our partners in St Lucia have forwarded containers of emergency supplies on by boat to St Martin and to Antigua for the 1500 refugees from Barbuda. Our focus is on immediate needs: food, shelter, clean water and hygiene.

In advance of the hurricane, seven vulnerable areas in northern Haiti were identified and aid was trucked from the charity’s Port-au-Prince warehouse before the hurricane arrived. Food For The Poor Canada is shipping a 40 foot container of canned chickpeas to Haiti next week.

“This takes us back to our roots; in FFP’s 36 years we have grown from basic needs to sustainability, but we have never strayed from our mission of helping people when they are in dire need”, said Samantha Mahfood, Executive Director of FFPC.

We need your support for our Hurricane Irma relief efforts. Many of you have reached out to help and it is so appreciated. Thank you for your kindness, and for doing this important work.

We will continue to fundraise to rebuild in Haiti after Hurricane Irma at our Thanksgiving and Fundraising Lunch on October 22, please join us.
