6,750 bags of dried vegetable soup mix, 600 baby layettes, mixed educational supplies and musical instruments loaded on a 40′ container this week. The container is currently headed to Kingston, Jamaica where the goods will be distributed to people in need by our partner on the ground Food For The Poor Jamaica.

We were fortunate to once again partner with Ontario Christian Gleaners who donates the soup mix that is produced at the Gleaners in Cambridge, Ontario by volunteers using surplus produce (fruits and vegetables) donated by Ontario farmers. This is the first shipment we are doing with Gleaners to Jamaica. We already send two shipments of soup a year to Haiti.

Westover Layette Ladies donated 600 baby layettes filled with diapers, clothes, hats, blankets, washcloths and other items for newborn babies. This is also a volunteer-run operation and a newly established partnership for Food For The Poor Canada.

We are tremendously grateful to our partners for their generous and impactful donations. This shipment also included 100 illustrated children’s books written and donated by Esther Dar and musical instruments for Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, Jamaica.

Please consider making a donation to help us cover the shipping costs of these life-shaving shipments.
