On October 21st, 2019 friends of Food For The Poor Canada joined together to raise funds for the village of Derac, Haiti and to support the rebuilding of the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian.

We were blessed to have FFP Haiti Executive Director Bishop Oge Beauvoir there to share with us about the need and the work going on in Haiti, with Canadian’s support, as well as sharing the plans of the new village that will be built in Derac. After Bishop Oge spoke, everyone generously donated, along with two lead donors to complete the funding for the 60 homes in Derac at the lunch with incredible and impactful gifts.

Andre Bastian, one of our board members spoke of the work needed in the Bahamas, and a group of high school friends from Appleby College shared their story of volunteering to build a home in Jamaica via a short documentary. It was a wonderful day filled with stories, conversation and giving, with a wonderful group of passionate Food For The Poor friends who change lives in the Caribbean!
