Food For The Poor Canada had an inspirational volunteer school build in Jamaica in October of 2016.

Lloyd’s Basic School in the parish of St. Thomas was constructed with the financial support of Donette Chin-Loy Chang, in memory of her late husband, G. Raymond Chang.  The new construction includes an office, sickbay, kitchen, three classrooms, and a brand-new playground, offering children from ages three to five a fantastic space in which to learn.

“I want to thank all my friends who came down from Canada and my friends who live in Jamaica for being apart of this project, the Lloyds basic school build in memory of my late husband G. Raymond Chang or as we called him Ray. I know he would have loved this, Ray was actually on one of our builds four years ago in Accompong. He was very much up there painting and hammering in nails. So Ray this one is very much for you. Also just wanted to honour my father, who’s name is actually Lloyd, for leaving his own legacy for how important education is. Not just for my generation, or his generation, but many generations to come. Thank you very much everyone.” – Donette
